Professor Zhao Yunxiang
The research group focuses on core technological innovation and industrial application in the swine industry. By comprehensively utilizing technologies such as GWAS, spatiotemporal omics, reproductive physiology, and microbiome studies, the team is dedicated to elucidating the full-chain regulatory mechanisms from breeding genes to the farming microenvironment. It has established a multi-dimensional collaborative research framework centered on "genetic breeding + intelligent farming + reproductive physiology + microecological regulation." The team represents a high-level scientific research unit that combines academic depth with practical industrial expertise.
Professor Fang Lingzhao
The research focuses on developing integrative genomics approaches to uncover the genetic and biological determinants of molecular and complex phenotypes, as well as the mechanisms underlying adaptive evolution. He initiated and now lead the Farm Animal Genotype-Tissue Expression (FarmGTEx) project, an international effort to build a comprehensive catalogue of regulatory variants across diverse biological and environmental conditions in farmed animal species. FarmGTx aims to advance fundamental biological discovery, accelerate innovation in animal breeding, and ultimately contribute to human biomedicine.
Professor Shao Haojing
Gene expression in organisms exhibits significant tissue-specificity, and in-depth, systematic investigations of key agricultural traits necessitate precise dissection of the spatial heterogeneity underlying gene expression. The emerging spatial transcriptome sequencing technology has provided a crucial research tool for elucidating the molecular mechanisms governing agricultural traits. The research team first systematically established a core analytical methodology encompassing cell segmentation and spatial clustering algorithms tailored for spatial transcriptome data, and subsequently applied these innovative methods to datasets from agricultural species to interpret key phenotypic traits. With over a decade of experience in developing supporting algorithms for high-throughput sequencing technologies, the team has consistently translated novel bioinformatics approaches into practical applications in the field of genomics research.
Professor Liu Qingyou
The research group primarily engages in fundamental research and technological innovation related to animal genomics, functional gene discovery, and animal reproduction and developmental biology. By integrating multi-omics technologies such as genomics, functional genomics, and microbiomics, the team aims to elucidate fundamental scientific questions and regulatory mechanisms in animal genetic breeding and reproduction. It is a long-standing scientific research team dedicated to both basic research innovation and applied foundational studies.
